STYLE SECTION ~ Let’s Spring into Summer!

Pantone Colors-Spring 2015Spring is here albeit with a little resistance. We are finally seeing signs of warmer weather, flowers budding, and grass on lawns replacing mounds of snow. Although warmer outerwear continues to be a necessity at this time of year, we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel and visualizing our spring wardrobes eventually transitioning into summer. Spring is not only a transformation in attire but also a change in mind and spirit, revolutionizing our attitudes. With warmer, longer days our temperament becomes lighter, our spirit is lifted and we feel less imprisoned by our layers of warmer clothing. We entertain the idea of eating healthier, investing in new pieces to add to our existing spring-summer wardrobes and possibly a new hairstyle with bouncy movement. If you are traveling this April vacation, below are the colors, which represent this seasons spring into summer. By infusing your existing wardrobe with accessories in these colors you can appear fresh and modern on your fabulous vacation

As reported by the color elites at Pantone, the geniuses who set the color trends for the seasons, hues of blue, yellow, green and reddish brown will be the top 10 prominent color choices for spring 2015 that will bring you into summer. The palette is not one of conventional pastels but rather a richer, bolder color range that you would normally expect for fall. Pantone has labeled their spring colors as Aquamarine, Scuba Blue, Lucite Green, Classic Blue, Toasted Almond, Strawberry Ice, Tangerine, Custard, Marsala, and Glacier Gray. This palette is what is deemed fashion forward by influential designers from around the world however you, the consumer, may like to sprinkle these colors into your existing wardrobe in an attempt to keep it fresh and current.

Polo Ralph Lauren with maxi skirtNow that we know our color palette, let’s spring forward and examine what is trendy in the world of fashion for the upcoming spring months that will bring you seamlessly into warm summer. According to Vogue.com some of the top fashion trends for spring 2015 are the Bohemian romantic looks instead of mini skirts, trouser suiting, gingham, suede, denim, all in a more relaxed style and florals in big, bold, modern prints. Huffingtonpost.com agrees with Vogue that, “gingham is the new black… in the form of Swinging Sixties mini-dresses, crop tops, power suits and adorable shorts”. Denim is redesigned with modern appeal convincing us that “denim is hip again.” Ralph Lauren polo shirts are back from the 90’s after a long hiatus! Pair your polo “with a maxi skirt, ensuring that you’ll literally be the most comfortable person on Earth”. Fringe is also big this season, giving depth to your wardrobe and because “this spring is all about movement”. Huffingtonpost also believes “think more crop tops, logo sweaters, sheer and ’70s influences”. For your feet, “Long live flats! Long live sneakers!” It’s time to wear comfortable footwear; “heels are dead”.

According to Harpersbazaar.com “seriously smoky shadow, vivid red lips and strokes of brilliant color” is appropriate for spring/summer 2015. However, at New York fashion week, many designers went with the natural look on their models, meaning absolutely no makeup at all but letting the models good looks shine through. Marc Jacobs wanted his models to appear “natural and real” with only a hint of concealer if necessary. Marc wanted his models to walk the runway “completely make-up-free”. Other designers such as Michael Kors preferred the bronze look giving his models the “like they’d just gotten back from a restful island vacation” look.

As mentioned in my winter into spring article, similar hairstyles are trending for the spring/summer season. “A strong center part and tons of shine spray make a low chignon instantly classic”. The bouncy and barely there wavy ponytail are crowd pleasers as well as the tousled top knot, that is worn by almost every NDA girl daily! Loose hair with an unkept appearance creates a natural, free spirit look that is undeniably chic. If you prefer a traditional look the woven braid, a braid with a ribbon wove into it, is a chic look and a modern French twist will remain an all time classic. If you prefer wearing your hair down, bouncy curls and rumpled wild waves are in and straight hair is out! Allure.com explains how to achieve these desired looks so be sure to check this site out!

Although the trendy clothes, fashionable hairstyles and makeup will create a fabulous outer you, healthy eating, positive and ethical thinking will allow you to shine from the inside out. Always remember who you are on the inside and where you’re heading in this wild, wacky world and you will shine regardless of what you wear on the outside!
