Catholic Schools Week 2020

Catholic+Schools+Week+2020

This week, NDA celebrates Catholic Schools Week. This celebration is important to our community, as it strengthens our bonds with other Catholic schools in the area and helps us grow closer to our identity and foundation. We also get to celebrate our founder, Saint Julie Billiart; this Friday, January 31st,  we celebrated a liturgy for the sisters of Notre Dame. This is because this Sunday, February 2nd, is the anniversary of the foundation of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.

This week, we have enjoyed games of NDA and Catholic school trivia. On Tuesday, we acknowledged what we are grateful for about NDA and Catholic school. On Wednesday, we listened to speakers from the 15-40 Connection, as they described how to recognize early cancer symptoms and how to advocate for ourselves in the doctor’s office. On Thursday, we had Rock Your Socks day, when we all wore fun and crazy socks. We also brought in new socks for donation. We also got free pizza at lunch. On Friday, the freshman got the chance to grow closer as a class through the freshman retreat. We also honored many sisters of Notre Dame de Namur for a liturgy, some of them former teachers here. Some seniors were invited onstage to share what they love most about NDA.

Catholic Schools Week allowed the NDA community to celebrate its foundation and roots. We are very grateful for all the opportunities we get here. Happy Catholic Schools week!
