New Year’s Resolutions: How to Keep Them in 2019

New Years Resolutions: How to Keep Them in 2019

With the New Year inevitably comes the influx of false promises that we all make to ourselves.

There’s the usual “I will be healthier this year,” “I will work-out more,” and “I will study better,” yet January 3rd we are all guilty of finding ourselves watching Netflix on the couch while eating chips, instead of studying for that big math test. So how do we solve this vicious cycle? Personally, I have found a few tips that will help me keep my 2019 resolutions (finally!).

First, you need a piece of paper, big or small, and some colorful markers or pens.

Next, write down your resolutions. They only need to be small changes that you can work into your daily routine. Do not be too broad, be specific! For example, I have promised myself that I would do two Word Teasers a day to help further my vocabulary and prepare for SATs. Writing them down and making these resolutions look nice with bright markers is way more motivating than having an unclear list in your head. There are small things that can be done daily to help you grow and actually fulfill these New Year’s Resolutions. Writing down resolutions will also help you memorize what you genuinely want to accomplish in the year ahead.

Now, you’re going to want to put this in a place that you will see it. A good place could be on your fridge or somewhere in your room. You want it to pop out, so you constantly see it and are reminded of these habits that you have vowed to get yourself into. Using these tools you are sure to finally be able to keep New Year’s Resolutions.

2019 is YOUR YEAR!
